“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. ”
How many of us get anxiety over the things we are unsure of? Everyone can relate to being unsure, uncertain, or uneasy. It happens to us all being overwhelmed with uneasiness because of what we cannot predict the outcome of. Then there are some of us who experience anxiety because we dwell in our uncertainty. Anxiety is described as fear of the future. In the dictionary it is defined as a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or with an uncertain outcome.
Yes, life can get overwhelming. It can be confusing. You may feel lost, frustrated or even complacent. You could be struggling financially. You could be struggling internally. You could lack direction. Your mind could be all over the place. And I know, there have been days where all you could do is worry, thinking of all the things you seemed to have no control over. There have been many times where you have stayed up all night thinking of ways to solve your problems. What if I told you that your worry and uncertainty was standing in the way of your faith? That those worrisome thoughts were trying your faith? Testing what you truly believe?
When you allow anxiety to take the place of stability you are lacking faith in God. Faith is the substance of things hoped for. When you worry you are hoping for the worst. You are experiencing fear of the future. Fear of what has yet to happen. These thoughts in your head can seem pretty convincing to the point where you start to believe this will be the outcome. But we know the voice of truth tells a different story. The scripture says be anxious of nothing. God does not promise us destruction but instead He promises prosperity. If you do not hold on to this promise you are giving the devil room to decrease your faith. Once you worry about one thing you will find yourself worrying about another and another. When you are experiencing fear you must remind yourself where this feeling is coming from. Definitely not from the God of Abraham! For God did not give us the spirit of fear.
Although these things may overwhelm you, you can overcome them! The bible says do not worry or be fearful but instead in everything let your requests be made unto God. He did not say you would not have worries or things to be anxious about. You just don’t have to carry the burden or trying to wonder how things will happen or what will come in the future near or far. It is not your job to work everything out. It is your job to give those things over to God. Faith works in two ways. You do what you can and pray for what you cannot. This way you allow God to do the rest. God wants to help lighten your load. The Lord your God wants you to place your trust in him. Trust that He will protect you, provide for you and promote you. Put your trust in God and he will bring you peace. Tell Him what is troubling you and rest well at night knowing that God is working on your behalf. Put your troubles in the hands of God and he will provide in times of need. Two of the most important aspects of a relationship is trust and communication. You must communicate your what makes you anxious to God and trust that He will sort things out. Chose stability over anxiety. Stand firm in your faith and be stable in your faith. Trust that God is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will in your life. Pray for the Lord to strengthen your trust in him.
Lord, Forgive me for failing to put my trust in you. I have been worrying, uneasy, and anxious. Anxiety and fear have overcome me taking away from my faith in you. But I know that this is not a spirit you have given me. I know that you desire for me to trust that you are in control. I want to be stable in my faith in you. Lord teach me to be stable, teach me to put my trust in you.
