“ALWAYS KEEP YOUR HEART PURE.
NEVER HOLD ANY GRUDGES.
THINGS ALWAYS COME FULL CIRCLE.
A PERSON THE DEVIL USED TO DESTROY YOU YESTERDAY
GOD CAN USE TO RESTORE YOU TODAY. “ A Word of Encouragement for December 28, 2019.
For many Christmas is about material gifts but for those of us who believe we know it is about so much more. It is a day dedicated to THE GIFT of ETERNAL life. We are celebrating the life of a man who was born to give away his life so that we could have eternal life. Could you imagine surrendering your entire life for people who would just criticize, reject, and eventually kill you? It takes a special kind of love to lay your life down for someone who you know would not do the same. It takes a special kind of commitment to embrace a journey that would only bring you pain and shame. That is how much God loves each and everyone of us. He sent his only son as a sacrifice, gave us the gift of grace which we did not deserve John 3:16. That is how much Jesus cares about us that he shielded us with his blood and stood in our place. Today we thank God for caring about us so much even though we could never reciprocate his dedication to us. Today give more than you take, compliment more than you would complain, and rejoice in the one that came. Merry Christmas to you and your families 🙏🏾❤️. #merrychristmas #hesthereasonfortheseason
Perhaps we look at the glass as half empty when we ought to look at it as half full. Things are never really what we often believe they are. We often buy into lies about others and ourselves. Naturally we all want to fit in and belong so we move with the crowd. We approve of what they approve and disapprove of what they disapprove of. The problem is when you live for their approval you will die from their criticism. Each of us must learn to stand strong on our own. Something we must consider is not everyone’s opinion about us is true. When others make us seem like we are not special it is a sign speaking to how special we really are. They just hope we do not see it because if we do we might shine brighter than a star on a dark night. When they call us dumb or stupid maybe they are afraid that others will see how brilliant we actually are. When they discredit us maybe it is a sign of how much credit we actually have with other people. When they try to make it seems like we are made of all weaknesses maybe they are trying to cover up our strengths. The truth is we should never be swayed by anyones opinion of us. We should never allow another person to change what we believe about ourselves. When we do, we may allow a person with a hidden agenda to mislead us into thinking less of ourselves when we are destined for much greater. Our value, worth, and perception of ourselves is only solid when we allow it to come from our creator.
Every experience in our lives good or bad shape us. The stories of Job and Joseph illustrate exactly how God will use negative circumstances for our good and his glory. James 1:2-4 reminds us to count it all joy because we profit from trials. Neither of these two men had the best circumstances. It was not because they were bad people being punished but because they were good people who God knew he could trust to persevere through their circumstances. There is a saying that God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers. Just know that God didn’t take you through those things in your life that troubled you to punish you. He knew exactly what experiences would bring the best out of you. Do not despise your journey it was for your good and God’s glory. Joseph had a promising future but found himself sold into slavery by his own brothers. It seemed like it was the devil’s plan but God was the one who orchestrated each move strategically. Joseph found favor as a slave and as a leader. Reminding us that God is in control in the good times and in the bad times. Job was blessed beyond measure and in moments he had lost it all. His friends were sure he had done something to displease God but we find out later in the story that he was innocent and God gave the devil permission to wreak havoc in his life because he knew Job would remain faithful. It is God who gives the devil permission to tempt us but never beyond what we can bare! He knows that even when we are pressed on every side we will not lose our confidence in him. Job kept trusting God regardless of how hard life got and how much he lost and his faith was rewarded. He was restored with all that he thought he lost. These two stories teach us that if God brings you to it he will bring you through it. There is always a purpose for our pain. Trust that it will all work out for your good Romans 8:28. Be encouraged, enduring trial and suffering brings God glory. “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,”
Romans 5:3-4 ESV
The Bible tells us in Isaiah 54:17, that no weapon formed against us shall prosper but it never said that the weapons would not form. The verse is evidence that the weapons will form. It is also evidence that they will never prosper! We can ask ourselves why God would allow weapons to form but we shouldn’t question him, we KNOW that his ways are higher than our own. He created us to be living proof that we can endure and overcome all the obstacles and opposition we face. We often complain about pressure because it takes a larger toll on us than we believe we can handle. The amount of pressure is actually exactly what we need to reach our next level of functioning. The obstacles are built for us meaning the weapons formed against us are also built for us. The devil forms our weapons based on what he believes about us. He knows that what God put on the inside of us will activate when we come to realize the power he placed down on the inside of us. An old friend of mine once told me “when you realize how strong you are you will become unstoppable”. Now to paint a picture for you this is the person who I would just cry and complain to. He saw what I didn’t see about myself. The Bible says we perish because of lack of knowledge. When we do not know who we are we will allow our obstacles and opposition to tell us who we are. The devil will benefit from our inability to see ourselves the way God sees us. He never wants us to look at what is on the inside of us but instead at our circumstances. You must know that you will overcome because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world 1 John 4:4. The level of the pressure we face in opposition or obstacles is actually the level that God believes we can perform. What do your obstacles and opposition say about you?
The Bible tells us that words have in them the power of life and death. Be careful not to let someone else’s words get a hold of you. The Bible tells us that our words come straight from our heart. “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”Luke 6:45. What people say has a lot to do with their heart posture. Bad heart posture is only created by a bad experience. A mouth was created to speak. We can not control what people say because it’s their own mouth and they can do with it what they please. What we can do is choose not to listen. We have two ears which we can control. We have a choice to ignore negativity. The most important thing I have learned from studying psychology is that people will often project on to us what they feel inside. If they feel shame they will try to make us feel ashamed. If they lack confidence they will belittle us. If they have been discredited they will try to discredit us and so on. Learn to empathize with those who speak against you instead of attacking them back. That way there will be nothing a person can say or do to you that can make you hate them. Never give the devil a chance to make you hate someone no matter how much they try to bring you down. Someone trying to bring you down is already below you. The best thing to do is to try to understand that they may be hurting inside. Have compassion for people because life is not easy and we are all going through something at the end of the day.
God desires for us to have healthy and growing relationships with other people. When God has a plan for your life his desire is for you to be connected to the right people. Proverbs 13:20 says, he who walks with the wise will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed. God desires for us to be connected to people who will support us, encourage us, inspire us, and genuinely love us. He tells us to avoid the company of those who are intentionally hurtful, destructive, and bad influences. God knows who is who concerning us so we should always pray for discernment concerning who we surround ourselves with. God requires us to have genuine love for one another and to honor one another (Romans 12:10). If a person does not genuinely care for you or honor you, it shows in how they treat you and what they say about you when you are not around. A genuine person adds value to your life while a fake person devalues you. The people around you should want to see you do good, celebrate you, and gently correct you promoting you to become better. Proverbs 27:17 says that iron sharpens iron. The people who we connect to should add to us as we add to them. Any connection that is one sided becomes dangerous for us in the long run. They will leave us worse than they found us because the connection is unbalanced.
When God has a plan for your life it is to bless everyone that is connected to you. God will not bless you while you are connected to people who he knows will hurt you or will hinder you in the future. He will not do all the work for us. It is our job to declutter our lives from people that do not fit our future. #disconnect #ironsharpensiron #growthmindset #saygoodbye
A new month right before the new year is a good time to get a head start in what you plan to do. Don’t wait until January first to get in position. Finishing off the year strong does not always mean rushing to complete the goals you set previously. Sometimes you have to turn the page and start a clean slate. Walk in a direction you have never gone before and see yourself in a new way.
Forget everything that has happened up to this point. Taking old things into your future will only hinder you. All that the past holds is the process in which God has used to mold and make you for your future. Do not limit yourself to what you have been through, where you have been, or what anyone has said about you.
God is always looking to do something new in our lives. He never dwells on the past and neither should you. He is the God of today and tomorrow. When he speaks he speaks to the future. The Bible says that when God forgives us he forgets our past and remembers it no more. When stepping into your destiny stay away from people who always try to use the past against you. No one is a prisoner of their past unless they choose to be. Transform by renewing your mind! Never mind who you “were”, ask yourself who do you want to be?
The most important thing is for you to not limit God by limiting yourself. God is unlimited so take the limitations off of yourself. Walk towards your destiny with boldness and courage. Don’t bother focusing on what anyone else is doing. The things you will do look nothing like what anyone else is doing. God’s plan for your life is as individual as your finger print. It does not matter where you are at physically, emotionally, socially, or financially. God specializes in working with what we have and where we are. A new thing starts from where you are now and takes you into a new direction! Get in position for God to do something new in your life. “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”

Often times we wonder what God’s will is concerning our lives. The Bible gives us examples on what God’s will is for us. On every occasion it is God’s will for us to be thankful in everything! Despite the difficulties we face everyday there is something always to be thankful for. God expects this of us because a grateful heart always has room to receive more. They that are faithful in little will be faithful in much more. If you can be happy with what you have when it does not seem like much God can trust you to be grateful when you have more! In and out of season we should express gratitude. Gratitude is the attitude of a blessed man/woman. This year I am thankful for everything, the good, the bad and the in between because life in it’s entirety is a gift. There is only one way I look at things in life, it’s a blessing or a lesson. A lesson is also a blessing disguised in unfavorable circumstances. God gives and he takes away. Everything he allows has his goodness written all over it. Today I will encourage you not to despise small beginnings. If you are grateful for what you have now you will be faithful when you have more! Be grateful for what you have and he will add to you in abundance. Happy thanksgiving to you and your families 💛
