God is Greater

You could have everything in this world and be miserable deep down. You could have absolutely nothing and be completely happy. One of the biggest lie in this world is that the more you have the happier you are. Having a certain amount of people around, material things, and money can never truly complete a person. It could distract you and give you a false sense of security.. but ask yourself what are you without those things? True purpose, peace, and joy is found in knowing and having a relationship with God. He is the way maker and game changer. Apart from him you could be happy but it won’t last. You can be filled but you will feel empty again. God is the greatest thing life has to offer. He is the source of all things good and wonderful! ““Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”

Breakthrough

When you feel like giving up the most is when you are the closest to your breakthrough. Breakthrough is defined as a sudden, dramatic, and important discovery or development. When a woman is pregnant she knows it is time to give birth because she experiences pain. The baby does not come out until she pushes through the pain. The same thing happens to us in life when we are about to experience a major beneficial shift or change. It gets tough, it gets painful, and we feel like giving up. It is not the time to give up! It is the time to push through the pain. There are people on the other side of what you are going through waiting for you to push through. There is a testimony attached to the circumstances that came to challenge you. There is hope and faith attached to other people witnessing you get through what you are going through. Keep going and trust that God will see you through. “That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!”

A Prayer for Freedom from a Wounded Past

Lord, I come to you as I am.

Broken, depleted, and faint in my thoughts, deeply wounded in my heart, and feeling lost in my soul.

My soul is aching while my thoughts are filled with all sorts of negativity and I am being haunted by past traumas. Lord, I feel defenseless and know that only you can make it stop.

I desperately need a touch from you.

I desperately am in need of your deliverance, healing, and love. Deliver me from the wounds of my past.

Erase from my my mind and my soul beliefs, thoughts, ideas, and memories that do not serve me anymore.

Heal me where others have hurt me and left me feeling broken and unworthy of your love.

Help me forgive, let go, and move on from the situations that once troubled my soul.

Cover me endlessly with your love and your blood.

Surround me with your light so that all darkness in my heart, soul and mind will be expelled.

Take full control of my healing Lord until it is complete.

Help me to guard my heart as I heal.

Help me to trust that it is finished just as it was declared on the cross that took away every burden from my life and made me victorious.

I claim my healing, I claim my deliverance, I claim my peace in my mind and heart, I claim the prosperity of my soul. I claim my restoration.

I believe with all my heart that it is done in Jesus mighty name, amen.

Believe in God and Believe in Yourself

There was a man in the bible by the name of Gideon. Gideon had a very hard time believing in himself. His circumstances and social standing were not the best. He looked down on himself and doubted himself. One day God visited Gideon and changed his perspective of himself.

“And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house. And the Lord said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.”

Judges 6:14-16

I can relate to Gideon on so many levels. I have had a tough time seeing the good in myself because I was bullied into thinking the worst of myself. I then isolated myself in hopes of never dealing with it again not realizing that I had hidden myself in this new shell of fear. I became my own bully. “Don’t say this or they will laugh at you, you aren’t talented enough to do that, you might as well not try because nobody is going to support you”. These are the type of limiting thoughts that filled my mind.

One day God spoke to me. I knew it was God because this voice did not sound like any of the voices that I had internalized. It didn’t belittle, limit, or mock me. It told me the opposite what I believed. This is when I realized that God will always intervene on our behalf even when we are against ourselves. He will always interrupt our pitty party for His glory. He created us for so much more than what we limit ourselves to believe.

Today I want to ask you how do you look at yourself? What words do you use to describe yourself? What do you see when you look in the mirror? Are you like Gideon, who did not see his potential?

In order for us to walk into our purpose fully we must be able to see the potential of who God called us to be. If you struggle with believing in yourself I want to pray with you today. I pray that God will visit you and change how you see yourself today.

Prayer:

Lord open my eyes, show me who I am in your sight. Show me what you see when you look at me so that I may align with my true authentic character and never look back.

A Prayer for the Frustrated Individual

Lord I thank you for always understanding me. I never have to worry about trusting you. I never have to doubt or fear because I know that your intentions for me are good and not evil.

Help me to guard my heart and mind from the patterns of this world. Fix my eyes on you Jesus. May my heart be filled with your love and my mind be filled with your word.

Nobody in this world can ever replace my relationship with you. It is special to me because nobody ever loved me like you do Jesus. Nobody ever made me see myself as whole in spite of my failures and flaws. Thank you Lord! It is your love, guidance, strength, grace and mercy Lord that drives me towards you and away from the world.

When I was still in the world you chose me and led me into a place where I can always be myself, your presence. Thank you Lord for being in my life. Amen.

A Prayer for the Mind

The bible declares that all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

“‘A ND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD [invoking, adoring, and worshiping the Lord Jesus] SHALL BE SAVED (rescued spiritually).’”

‭‭ACTS‬ ‭2:21‬ ‭

Let us pray for a sound mind and peaceful heart today.

Father, help me to see myself the way you see me. Help me to think the thoughts that you think of me. Demolish my doubts and fears with your everlasting truth. Create in me a sound mind oh Lord. In Jesus name, amen.

Love

It is harder to love than it is to hate. It is harder to forgive than it is to hold a grudge. It is harder to understand than it is to judge. But without love life is just hard for all of us. We all become the victims of each other’s hate.

With love we break the barriers between us and build bridges that lead us to the Kingdom of God.

Choose love, not because you have to but because He loved us first. Loved us enough to forgive us of our sins. He took on all of our pain just to show us mercy. He showed us the example that love is sacrificial.

Love is not about measuring who deserves what or how much of what they deserve. Love is unconditional! The moment you start measuring it, it loses its value and becomes conditional and it is no longer love. God showed us mercy because he loved us not because we deserved it. We do not love because people deserve it. We love because we were created and sustained through love.

Mercy is love. Forgiveness is love. Understanding is love. Kindness is love. Compassion is love. Sacrifice is love. God is full of all these things. God is love.

““For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

‭‭JOHN‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭

“But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

‭‭ROMANS‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭

“The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. [He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.]”

‭‭1 JOHN‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭

“Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant.”

‭‭1 CORINTHIANS‬ ‭13:4‬ ‭

-“ Love does no wrong to a neighbor [it never hurts anyone]. Therefore [unselfish] love is the fulfillment of the Law.”

ROMANS 13:10

A Call Worth Answering

God has placed his spirit inside of each one of us. As a helper to guide us not only through our own lives, but also to guide us to influence/impact the lives of those around us. Don’t waste time thinking you are to unknown, too broken, too sinful, or too undeserving.
Understand that you can never be too much of anything for God to use you. God has a purpose for each of us that all work towards the greater good.
If you are anything like me you struggle with walking in your purpose. You are at times lost and have not yet found your way. Don’t you worry it is all a part of the journey.
You may get lost from time to time if you aren’t really sure where you are going. It happens to everyone, even those who have discovered their purpose. Understand that trying to find your purpose is like taking the bird box challenge it s DIFFICULT.
Please note that I am not promoting taking the challenge or even steroids both are dangerous for your well-being. I just wanted to add a little joke in there before we get serious to remind you that I am just as human as you are.
Now that I have your attention let’s redirect to the moral of the post. I’ve recently learned that the best way to get on course with your purpose is to seek direction from God.
One of the easiest ways to get direction from God is to welcome him into your atmosphere through prayer then ask him to connect with you as you read his word. The bible is a great navigation system for Life. Not only that but the bible is THE word of God. The word of God shares with us how we can step into our purpose as Christians. I know what you are thinking, did she just say “our” and yes, why yes I did.
The Lord does have individual purpose for each of our lives but they are for an appointed time. Some times we wander aimlessly looking for our purpose in life not realizing that it is just not time for God to show who he has created to the world. God’s will is God’s will and there is just no arguing with that.
So what do we do in the mean time while we wait? Well if you feel it in your spirit that God has called you to serve then you have some work to do. Some christian work that is. You may ask what is christian work? Well it is exactly what Jesus describes in Matthew 6:10 to bring God’s kingdom on earth in order for it to show what is going on in heaven. That is essentially what we christians are to do. Reflect the kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven.
Isaiah gives us a little insight on what it looks like to bring God’s kingdom on earth in Isaiah Chapter 61:1. He says “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”.

Let me break this down for you so you can see how it applied to our world today.

The spirit of God will call you daily to do things that show God’s kingdom on earth. It may seem overwhelming but most of these things are found in our daily conversations.
For example the spirit will call you to speak good news to those who are in unfavorable circumstances.
To bring together the broken-hearted so they may relate to one another. Do this through the sharing of personal experiences and giving advice on how to maneuver through heart-felt pain.
To speak open and free the minds of those who are in mental captivity. Someone may have a perspective that is negative or dark and you are the one who can to purify their mind by combating their ignorance with God-given knowledge.
Lastly, to encourage those around you to break free from mental/spiritual/emotional prisons. There are so many people struggling with depression, anxiety, and all sorts of mental and emotional issues. You are there as the force of light in their darkness by offering them words of encouragement in the midst of their circumstance.
You have a role to play each day! Chances are you do some of these things unknowingly daily.
Disclaimer***** this is me trying to translate the language in modern context not necessary trying to change the word of God. I’ve learned that some times we miss receiving the word of God because we do not quite understand the context behind it. So next time you find yourself aimlessly waiting for your purpose, answer the call.

A Letter To My Insecurities

You come around often and I wish you didn’t. You creep up in my mind even when I am at my best. You make me believe in the very worst.

I am not too fond of you.

Yet, I cling to you when you are near. I explore your ideas and find misery in each and every one of them.

They devour me.

When I am confident and filled with joy, you challenge me. You tell me lies that I often believe because I know that I am flawed.

You haunt me with my past mistakes and make me worry about my future.

You take me out of the comfort of my Lord and savior. You make me question why He is so good to me. You make me believe He isn’t going to use me.

You remind me that I fall short of God’s grace. You make me stumble even when I am running a good race.

You make run to you when I don’t manifest the best of me.

All because I beat myself up about it. I find comfort in relating to you. You sound like you understand me. I relate to your fears and feelings of defeat.

You comfort me yet you betray me.

As if we are not in this thing together. You betray me. You make me my own Judas. You deliver me to the thoughts that believe the absolute worst of me.

You are no good for me.

My redeemer doesn’t want me to live this way. As a matter of fact when it comes to my redemption you always get in the way.

Today I came to visit you for once. To counsel you instead.

To tell you that you are no longer the voice I want to believe.

You hinder me.

You distract me.

You destroy me over and over and over again.

You belittle me and my dreams. You make me question my destiny.

You trade my purpose for pain each and every time.

I’m writing to say I can’t be friends with you anymore.

Your counsel is wicked in its entirety.

How can you tell me I am worthless when I am fearfully and wonderfully made?

What kind of voice would make me feel this way? Like I am undeserving of the very best my Lord has to offer.

Why do you tell me to fear? Why do you drown me when I am in pain?

You do not serve me any good.

Yet, I’ll admit there are times when I serve you.

But I know I cannot serve idols. You idolize the worst of me over everything. I can no longer serve you.

There is only one God in my life and you are His biggest enemy.

You are my biggest enemy.

You are a liar, a thief, and a murderer.

You do not deserve me.

I believe in God and my Bible tells me the opposite of what you want me to believe and my soul knows this very well.

I need Him more than I need you.

”I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.”

‭‭PSALM‬ ‭139:14‬ ‭AMP‬‬

I wrote this letter to my insecurities. To remind us all that when our insecurities call us to serve their purpose, that we can choose not to answer. We can choose the truth over the lies. Although our grace and salvation is underserved the Lord is compassionate and merciful above all else. Last post, The Psalmists Passion reminded us that He delights in mercy. Who are we to deny ourselves of a mercy that is given freely and joyously? Who are we to defy the will of God? Jeremiah 29:11 says the Lord’s plans are for peace and well being. So why do we all our insecurities to speak disaster into our lives? Why do we believe lies when the voice of truth tells us a different story? The Lord tells us He wants to give us better. We have to hold on to this truth when the insecurities fly in.

God’s Mercy

Sometimes we forget, well oftentimes we forget how good and merciful God is so as I’m preaching to myself, I’m preaching to you. I hope and pray that we’ll be inspired by what God has to say today.

“You delight in showing mercy and mercy triumphs over judgment.”

When I think of those words, I usually sing it to the tune of a song I can’t remember, but the delight in the melody is evident.

God does not begrudgingly show mercy. He doesn’t sigh, roll His eyes and give in to the annoying nudge of a conscience. He never responds to your need of mercy saying, “Sure, I guess so.

God does not hand out mercy and grace like a slot machine— grace is not given by chance. God never says, “Hmm… sure, why not? I’m feeling rather generous today.”

I know there are some people who think God is an unforgiving tyrant, who’s mad and blind and careless, but God is anything but. Could you imagine giving up your only child to save your other children, knowing that many of them wouldn’t accept your love and come into the family? I could only imagine. That is mercy. But God does not show mercy as a duty. He takes joy in it.

Check out this verse from the Message below:

“You don’t nurse your anger and don’t stay angry long, for mercy is your specialty. That’s what You love most. And compassion is on its way to us.”

Micah 7:18-20.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t read the whole book of Micah, but what I have read of it shouts of love and mercy. I wonder how different our spiritual lives would be if we just stopped and read the Word not out of duty, not out of dehydration, but out of a longing to be with our Maker?

“As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God.”

Psalm 42:1

As God takes pleasure and great joy in showering us in mercy, let us take pleasure and great joy in being in His presence. I thought my blog post would end here, but I just felt I needed to say this: We are image-bearers of the King, so shouldn’t we also be inclined to show mercy? Well, yeah, that’s what Jesus says:

“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

All the love xx
